Growing & Playing

A lot has happened over the last few weeks. Logan has grown a lot. He now weighs in at 13 lbs 13oz. I measured him yesterday just to see how long he was. He is 25 3/4 inches long. Over the past month he has grown 3/4 inch.

Logan loves to play with his fishies and is discovering new things every day. One of the new things he likes is when you get down really close to his face with your face. Then he uses his hands to explore the different parts of your face.

Something new that we have done recently is switched Logan to cloth diapers. I have been wanting to put him in cloth diapers ever since he was born but decided to wait until I moved back to Iowa because cloth diapers get to be expensive when you have to pay $1.50 every time just to wash them (as long as the washer doesn't eat your money) and make sure no one is using the washing machine. We are still adjusting to the cloth diapers. We seem to go through more outfits because the diaper leaked than anything else. In the long run we plan to get a lot of use out of these diapers since they can be used for babies 6 to 35 lbs. Plus maybe once Logan is done using them, he can pass them on to a future sibling. For more info on cloth diapers we bought go to www.comfybummy.com . We are using the one size pocket diaper.

Chubby Cheeks

It is not very often that Logan looks like he has chubby cheeks. It seems like every time he has chubby cheeks, a few days later his face has thinned out and he has gotten longer. I keep hoping that he will keep some of his chubbiness and hold off a little on the length at least for a little bit. Last night he slept for an 8 hour stretch which meant that I got a little more sleep for a change. I am hoping this continues so I can catch up on some sleep.

3 Months

Logan turned 3 months old on Sunday (I am a litttle late with the posting). His latest accomplishments are putting both of his hands together, reaching out to grab fingers or toys, and alternating between which fist he wants to put in his mouth. He currently weighs 12 lbs 12.5 oz. We survived the first round of the holiday season with Thanksgiving. Next we will battle Christmas. Tim was home for a few days over Thanksgiving and will be home again for Christmas. We are all looking forward to it.

Happy Thanksgiving

These are pictures of Logan at 12 weeks old. These are some of the poses we get on a regular basis. He currently weighs 12 lbs 5 oz and is 25 inches long. He got his first shots on Saturday and did not like them very much. It only took one night of being fussy and he was back to normal. Tim comes home for Thanksgiving tommorrow and we can't wait to see him. Hope everyone has a good turkey day if we don't see you.

2 Months Old

Logan is now 2 months old. Last week he decided that he did not like tummy time, so he rolled from his tummy to his back. He still likes to talk up a storm when he is in a good mood and has recently started blowing bubbles. This week at Mommy and Me Logan weighed in at 11 lbs 1 oz. Yesterday I did an informal measurement of him with the ruler and he is about 24 inches long. I now have him in 3-6 month clothing because of how long he is. Now he just needs to gain some weight to fill them out.

Back in Iowa

I just thought that I would update everyone on how we are doing since it has been a while. Logan and I got back to Iowa on October 7th. Last week we spent the week visiting people and trying to adjust to our new environment. We really confused people when we went to a baby shower for my friend Karen. She was holding Logan as people started to arrive and her sister was holding her son Ross who is just one week younger than Logan.
Logan has started to do a lot more talking and cooing lately. The other day he talked to Tim on the phone for about 5 minutes. Yesterday Logan and I went to a Mommy and Me class and learned how to do a baby massage. Logan also got weighed and is now 10 lbs 10.5 oz. He is getting bigger everyday and likes to kick his legs and swing his arms.

Tim arrived safely in Texas on Saturday. He stopped at the Grand Canyon for a few days and did some hiking. The first day he hiked 9 miles and the second day he did 16 miles. He was sore after all that hiking. Now he is just waiting to see when he will start his next round of classes.

One Month

Logan is one month old today. Here he is sleeping in his favorite spot on my body pillow on the couch. Logan has started smiling more, especially when mom and dad talk to him. He has also discovered his fingers and likes to put them in his mouth when he is able to control where his arms are swinging.

Tim took his speaking test last week, his listening test yesterday and today he has his reading test. We should know by Thursday how he did on all of his tests. As for me, I just hang out with Logan everyday.

Many Faces

Logan is growing more and more every day. He is starting to use his arms more by swinging them when he is mad and occasionally batting at things. This can be a challenge to feed him sometimes because his hands and arms get in the way and this will make him even more frustrated when he can't get food. His is also able to stay awake for longer periods of time and loves to hear music. When some music comes on he will stop what he is doing and pay attention to the music. Logan latest achievement is smiling when Mom or Dad is talking to him and giving a coo every once in a while.

Growing Every Day

Logan is a very good eater and has put on the weight to show it. At his doctor's appointment on Friday he weighed in at 7 lbs 15 oz. The week before at his doctor's appointment he weighed 7 lbs 1 oz. We are trying to get into a routine of some sort but for now Logan is still trying to determine what that routine will be.

Tim has been studying a lot the last few weeks. Next week Monday he will take his speaking test and the following Monday and Tuesday are his reading and listening tests. He has been putting a lot of effort into his classes and we are hoping he does well.

We are starting to get things ready around the apartment for our move in October since I am moving in with my parents in October. I am trying to find time to sort through things and start cleaning the apartment. Most of this is done while Logan is napping. Not much else is new around here and I will try to post pictures of Logan as much as possible.

Still Pregnant

Just thought I would let everyone know that I have not had the baby yet. I am a week overdue and the doctor is going to let me go 1 more week, so hopefully something will happen by then. I am getting to be more familiar with the hospital since I have to go in for non-stress tests twice a week. Yesterday Beth and Tim tried to walk the baby out of me. We went for a 1 1/2 hour walk along the beach and back. Then we walked to KFC later that night to go eat. After all that walking, it made it harder to get in and out of bed because my muscles were sore. Other than that we are just playing a waiting game for when the baby comes.

Any Day Now

According to the doctor I am due today. After my appointment yesterday, she said that it will probably be sometime in the next few days. Tim is hoping for this weekend sometime so he doesn't have to miss any class but my guess is that it will be during the week.

Anyways Beth got here on Monday and has been helping with the cooking and dishes. Yesterday we went to see Winchester Mystery House in San Jose. Today we went to the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz. The picture at the top is not altered in anyway. There is just that much of an incline that makes you lean.

Happy 3rd Anniversary

Today Tim and I celebrated 3 years of marriage. It does not really feel like it has been that long. We did not do anything special today. This past Saturday we went out to dinner and rearranged our bedroom to make room for the Pack'n'Play. I still need to work on cleaning the extra bedroom and rearrange it a little bit.

Yesterday I had another doctor's appointment. Everything is still going good. I now weigh 153 lbs and I am 42 inches around. It is getting even harder to sleep through the night and get up out of bed. Also, it probably doesn't help that I have a cold and can't breathe very well. I am hoping to be feeling better in the next week. I still have about one more week of work left as long as they have a need for me but I usually don't work a full day anyways.

Motorcycles Everywhere

This weekend the MotoGP World Championship is going on at Laguna Seca and there are motorcycles everywhere. Last night down on Cannery Row they closed down the street to just motorcycles and pedestrians. There were all kinds of bikes lined up and down the street. There were Harley Davidson's, Choppers, Ducati's, Yamaha's and Suzuki's just to name a few. It was fun to walk down the street looking at all the bikes and see the amazing paint jobs on some of these bikes. After looking at all the bikes, Tim got online and was looking at what kind of bike he wants to get. Other than that not much is going on around here.

4 weeks and counting

I don't know if you can tell from the picture but I am still getting bigger and bigger everyday. Tim has even noticed that I am getting bigger from week to week and he sees me everyday. Last week at my doctor's appointment I weighed in at 145.6 lbs. I have gained 30 lbs and my waist is at 41 inches. It is getting harder to get out of bed and get up off the couch.

In other news, the weather has been nice around here lately. The last few days the temperature has been in the upper 60s/low 70s. Around here that is shorts and t-shirt weather for us. Today Tim and I went to Gilroy (about 45 minutes away) to do some shopping and the temp there was in the 80s.

We are slowly getting things ready for the baby. Last week I had a baby shower and got some things. We still need to get more clothes and the big things, like a car seat and pack'n'play. So I will probably be doing lots of shopping over the next few weeks. We are registered at Wal-Mart for anyone who thinks they need to get us something.

Happy 4th of July

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. This morning Tim was in the parade here in Monterey. I watched the parade for a little bit and came home. We are going over to a friend's house this afternoon for a get together. We will probably watch the fireworks over the bay from our apartment or walk the 2 blocks to get a little better view.

On a side note. I experienced my first earthquake. It happened Monday at 12:58 pm pacific time. It was a 4.3 earthquake about 40 miles from Monterey. I was at work in Salinas so it was only about 20 miles away from there. It just felt like I was swaying back and forth for about 20 seconds while sitting down. Tim said that he did not feel it in Monterey. There was no damage reported in the area so it was nothing to scary.

6 weeks to go and getting bigger everyday

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted something. Things have not been very busy around here but I am getting tired earlier in the evening and not wanting to do anything extra. For anyone who is keeping track, I now weigh 141.2 lbs and I am about 39 inches around. I feel like I am huge but everyone keeps telling me how tiny I am for how far only have 6 more weeks to go. The baby is starting to take up more and more space and making me feel less comfortable.

We are slowly starting to get things ready for the baby. About 2 weeks ago we got a dresser and my mom has sent us some clothing that her and my dad have picked up at garage sales.

Things are going good at work for me. I have been working on one spreadsheet for the last month and a half. A few weeks ago they told me that my last day was going to be June 29th because they did not have anywhere to put me. But a few days later they asked if I would stay longer because things had changed. So as of now I told them that I would work until the end of July as long as my doctor allowed me to. I know they would love for me to stay longer because they are going to be putting in new software and there have been a lot of changes in the past few months.

This weekend Tim went back to Yosemite to climb Half Dome (the picture of the big rock from the last post). I stayed behind because I did not feel like camping and sleeping on the ground. It is hard enough getting in and out of bed right now. Plus he went on a 17 mile hike in order to climb Half Dome. I am not in good enough shape to do that right now.

Yosemite

Last weekend Tim and I went to Yosemite with Tim's sister Jill. The weekend was full of hiking and breath taking views. Saturday we started our day with a view of Bridalveil Falls. Then, we hiked 2 miles around the Giant Sequoia trees. Next, we drove up to Glacier point where we looked out over the park. Tim and Jill then hiked down the 4 mile trail from the top of Glacier point while I drove the car down to meet them. The bottom picture is of Tim and I from on top of Glacier Point with Half Dome behind us.

Sunday we went to Hetch Hetchy which is in the north western part of Yosemite. While we were there we saw a dam that provides water for the city of San Fransico. Then we went on a 5.4 mile hike out to Wapama Falls. We got some really neat pictures and some video of the falls. After our hike we headed back to Yosemite Valley to try and take in a few more sites before we left. This is where we took a photo of Lower Yosemite Falls (top picture).

28 1/2 weeks

I had another doctor check-up today. I weighed in at 134 lbs, up 6.6 pounds from last time. I measured my waist the other day and I am 37 inches around. As you can see from my picture, I am getting a more noticable belly.

This past weekend Beth and Alan came to visit us for a few days. They were on their own Thursday and Friday. Saturday we went to San Francisco and did a lot of walking. I have almost recovered from all the walking. Beth and Alan left Sunday to drive down the coast to go to Hearst Castle and eventually Disneyland. Today they flew out of John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana and should be home later tonight.

This weekend Tim and I have a big weekend coming up. We are going to Yosemite National Park with Tim's sister Jill and maybe a friend of ours. Tim and I went there last August but most of the waterfalls had dried up and Tim deleted all of our pictures before I got them printed. So we are going to be trying to recapture our pictures and do a lot of walking. We are really looking forward to getting out of town. I will post some pictures after we get back.

Happy Birthday Tim!!

Here is a picture of Tim when he was just 3 days old. Janice sent this to us, so that we can compare it when our baby is born.

The View

This is the view we had from our bedroom windows yesterday. This was not a big cruise ship by any means but thought I share it. This morning we went and watched some of the Big Sur Marathon. The two guys we were watching completed the marathon in about 3 hours and 15 minutes. They were hoping to finish in 3 1/2 hours and beat it. Good Job. Other than that I have spent the day cleaning.

Murder Mystery

Last Friday Tim and I went to a Murder Mystery dinner/birthday party. Neither one of us were the killer but apparently my gun was used to make people think I did it. We both had a really good time and the food was excellent (6 course meal).

Today I had a check-up with the baby doctor. I weighed in at 127.4 lbs that is up 7.6 lbs (119.8 lbs) since my last appointment 5 weeks ago. The baby is doing well and growing all the time. My waist now measures in at 35 inches (up 2 inches from 10 days ago). I keep growing out of all my old clothes and am having to buy new ones. Some of the tops I have bought are still a little big but I know I will grow into them. I need to go shopping in Gilroy at the outlet mall to get some more tops sometime. I have enough pants for now.

Growing Bigger

Just thought I would show off my growing belly. I measured my waist and it is just over 33 inches around. I think that I started off at around 29 inches or so.

Baby Pics

Here are the pictures from the ultrasound on Wednesday. The first two are profiles of the baby and the third is the baby's two feet together.
