19 months / 1 year

It was one year ago today that we left the snowy state of Iowa for much warmer weather. We didn't officially arrive here until tommorrow because we spent the night in L.A. to break up the trip a little (and I was technically still supposed to be living in CA). I remember that when we left IA it was starting to snow and they had to spray down the wings of the plane so they wouldn't ice up. When we got here it was a shock to the system because the temperature was in the 80's. Now that we have been here for a year, I am not sure if I want to return to colder weather for an extended period of time. We are enjoying the sunshine and ocean activities. Tim loves to go snorkling and is thinking about getting a surfboard after going surfing this past weekend.

Yesterday Logan turned 19 months old. He has had a busy last couple of weeks. He has discovered that he really likes to play with matchbox cars. With a total of 20 something cars (even though we can't find all of them because some may have gone in the dirty diaper trash without us knowing). He likes to drive them on the coffee table, couch and my stomach and tries to take them into the bathtub with him.

His other accomplishment is saying more words that we know the meaning of. For example: wich is sandwich, shoes, juice, uck is truck, us or ice is bus, helicata is helicopter, alk is walk. Then we have the words that make Tim and I laugh because they sound worse than they are. For example last night Tim got Logan to say the word ocean and it sounded more like oh sha. A word that he likes to say a lot is ash because he likes to do ring around the rosie but he tends to leave off the "h" when he says the word. But we are just happy that he is actually saying more words that we understand.

The Belly

I don't know why people think they need to see how big my belly is but this post is for them. I know that I posted more on my pregnancy with Logan than with this one. It is probably because it is not new this time around and lately I just feel fat.

At my doctor's appointment last week I weighed 141.8 lbs and my stomach measurement was 32 (right on target). The scary thing about my weight is that when I started this pregnancy I weighed around 135. Most of that weight was because I was still nursing at the time. Once I stopped nursing and the morning sickness started, my weight went down to 123 over a 6 week time frame. But since then I have been gaining weight like I am supposed to and feel like I get bigger and bigger every day.

Now the big thing we need to prepare for our little girl is to get some clothes for her to wear. We have some sleepers that I need to sort through and some gender neutral clothes from Logan that I need to pull out. The other day we bought her an outfit to wear home from the hospital. I have been looking on Craigslist for some deals on girls clothing but haven't gotten around to buying anything. I want to go to some garage sales and see what people have. I will have to put that on my list of things to do this weekend if there are any good sales around.

New Toy

The other day when Tim and Logan went out to get the mail, one of our neighbors saw them and asked if we wanted an outdoor slide. They said that their 3 year old doesn't play with it anymore and they were giving it away. So Tim took it and Logan now has a toy out on our patio. Logan doesn't always like to go down the slide because he lands on the cement. Other than that it is a good toy to climb on.

17 months

Today Logan is 17 months old. It seems like he has been getting taller lately. The things he couldn't reach about a month ago seem to be no problem now. He loves to turn the kitchen light off, especially while I am trying to cook. He is able to comprehend a lot of what we say. If we ask him to go get his shoes, he knows where to go look for them and brings them to us. Then he will give us our shoes if we don't have them on yet. He doesn't say a lot of words yet but has been doing more babbling and nonsense talking. It is a start.

The other day we went to the zoo and Logan had a great time. He was interested in the zebras, giraffes and elephants. Then when we went into the kids zoo area, Logan had even more fun. First off Logan saw the ducks and started quacking. Next, we went to the billy goat area and Tim took Logan in. Logan was not scared of the goats and even went up to touch some of them. Finally, we headed over to see the sheep. While we were there we taught Logan what sound a sheep says and after a little bit he was saying baaaaaaaaa.

Ultrasound Pics

Profile pictures. She liked to have her hands up by her mouth while the ultrasound was being done.

Here is a picture of her little foot with the heel of the other foot behind.

I just thought I would put up some photos from the ultrasound even though they are a month old.

Day at the beach

The other day we went to the beach to check out the big waves. Logan surprised us by wanting to go into the water. Usually he doesn't want to be near the water. The first wave of water caught him by surprise. After that he kept going out towards the water if the water was not close enough. By the time we were done at the beach we were all a little more wet than we planned on.
